Hi, I'm Chip Moreno
I'm a 27-year-old American expat living in Cuenca, Ecuador. I founded FileAbroad — the tax advisory division of EcuaPass — to help fellow Americans abroad navigate U.S. tax obligations without the confusion, overcharging, or neglect that defines most of the industry.
Why I Started FileAbroad
When I moved to Ecuador, I quickly realized how broken the expat tax industry is. Big firms charge $1,500+ for a straightforward return. DIY software doesn't support Form 2555 or FBAR. Friends were either overpaying or not filing at all out of confusion and fear.
I built FileAbroad to fix that. Every client works directly with me — not a queue, not a chatbot, not an algorithm. I handle the expat-specific forms (FEIE, Foreign Tax Credit, FBAR, FATCA) so you don't have to figure them out alone, and I charge a fair price for it.
Living abroad myself means I understand the practical realities: the time zone differences, the foreign bank accounts, the questions about whether your pension or Social Security is taxed in both countries. I deal with the same things my clients do.
